Dr Gralton listened to me and understood exactly what I had gone through. Until then my son's condition (aspergers) was something that was my burden alone. Even I did not fully understand it. He has been very supportive. It was evident to me from the start that he actually cared about my son and wanted to improve his quality of life and give him opportunities.
I needed support as did my son and through a court case and some distressing times we both felt that Dr Gralton was there for us both. I would highly recommend Dr Gralton and St Andrews for great care and facilities and for being a beacon of hope.
I had the pleasure of meeting Dr Gralton in 2001 when my son was admitted to hospital. He took great care in explaining everything to us and was extremely supportive not only to my son but to us as a family.
Dr Gralton is an expert in his field and always makes time to answer questions, offer professional advice and instil confidence in you. He never made me feel inferior or without knowledge, which clearly I was because this was a completely new, emotional and daunting experience for our family.
Since my sons discharge Dr Gralton has continued to support and advise me when I have required his help.
I have every confidence in Dr Gralton and value the service he has given to my son, which had a positive impact on illness, helping him to reach his potential. I am also very grateful for the guidance and support he has given me post discharge of my son.
Dr Gralton is a very experienced clinician who successfully diagnosed our child after they had deteriorated over 11 months in another hospital. His communication is excellent. He phoned me up, explained his thinking and the course of treatment he proposed. He is right up to date with his clinical knowledge. Our child then recovered under his care and is now discharged. During their stay in hospital several other consultants were appointed and then left, but he supervised their care of our child ensuring continuity. He remained in touch with me as required, which was helpful to the whole family. His staff are also well motivated and work well as a team which is very important.
Dr Gralton correctly diagnosed our daughter with a life threatening condition and started her on appropriate therapy after she had been hospitalised and deteriorated for 11 months under another consultant (elsewhere) who did not make this diagnosis. She has a complex condition with more than one aetiology. He phoned me up at home to explain his diagnosis and his thoughts regarding her treatment. The result of Dr Gralton's diagnosis and expertise was that she was started on the correct therapy and began to recover. It took her a long time as she had been so unwell. Throughout her hospital stay Dr Gralton acted as supervisor for other consultants, who came and left, ensuring continuity in the treatment plan. I am so grateful for the professional expertise and care provided by Dr Gralton and his staff. Communication from his team has been excellent. This is especially important to us as a family as we live so far away. Thanks to his expertise she has at last been discharged from hospital.
